Car insurance made simple.
Pay when you drive. Save when you don’t. ℠Get a Quote
What Is It?
Our pay-per-mile insurance is straightforward, easy to use, and can save low-mileage drivers 50-60% off their current rates.
65% of us drive less than 12,000 miles a year. If that’s you, you’re probably paying too much for car insurance.
Why We’re Better
We charge pennies and value privacy.
With our pay-per-mile insurance, you only pay for what you use. The less you drive, the more you save. And we don’t ask you to install a “black box” tracking device in your car, so where you go, how you drive, and where you and your car sleep at night is your business, not your insurance company’s.
How It Works
A new kind of car insurance
A new kind of car insurance
Once a month, send us a photo of your odometer. That’s it.
Pay a super-low monthly base rate, plus a few cents for each mile you drive. No surprises.
Enjoy some extra money in your pocket, and know we’re there for you if you need us.
Who We Are
We’re big fans of fairness and transparency. We’re also auto insurance experts.
And we know a secret: low-mileage drivers pay more than their fair share to cover their high-mileage counterparts. We created Mile to give those drivers transparency into their costs, control over their data, and unmatched customer service, all at a fair price.
We’d love to hear from you.
Some answers to our most common questions are below, but if there is anything not covered, give us a shout!
- Are you legit?
100%. We’re experienced experts in the auto insurance field and our policies are underwritten by Falls Lake National Insurance Company, rated “A/Excellent” by A.M. Best.
- Who could use Mile?
College students, empty nesters, urban commuters, retirees, weekend explorers, Sunday drivers, and remote workers. If you drive 10,000 miles or less a year, Mile likely makes sense for you.
- How does Mile work?
With Mile, you only pay for the miles you drive plus a low monthly base rate. At the end of the month, you send us the number of miles you’ve driven. We add those miles at your per-mile rate to your base rate, and that’s what you pay. It really is that simple. For example, Fred has a base rate of $30 and a per mile rate of $0.03. He drove 300 miles this month, so his monthly total is $39 – his $30 base rate plus $9 (300 miles at 3¢ per mile).
- What coverage do you offer?
Mile Auto offers “full coverage” auto insurance to help protect you from financial liability if your vehicle is involved in an accident, or is stolen or damaged – just like the other major auto insurers that you see advertised on television and online. All of our automobile insurance policies include at least the minimum liability coverages that are required by your state, with the option for increased liability coverage depending on your needs and budget. Your Mile Auto policy can also include comprehensive (for non-accident vehicle damage or theft) and collision coverage at your option, which is also important as these coverages are often required if you are financing or leasing your vehicle. We also offer optional coverages such as rental vehicle reimbursement and roadside assistance. You can also choose various coverage limits and deductibles, depending on your needs and budget.
- How much money will I save with Mile?
Your savings will depend on your rate and how much you drive, but we’ve found that Mile customers can save 50-60% off of their standard insurance rates.
- Where is Mile available?
Mile is currently available only in Oregon.
- When will Mile be in my state?
We’re expanding to other states soon. To find out when we’ll be launching in your area, enter your email below and we’ll stay in touch.
